I don’t know how Realms of the Haunting happened. It’s a mishmash of a few genres. Equal parts adventure game, first person shooter, and interactive FMV movie, it’s difficult to describe simply. It’s also hard to play it with a straight face the whole way through.
The setup is familiar by this point. Adam Randal is a young man called to investigate his father’s mysterious death, which of course happened in a sprawling mansion with an eldritch secret. But the stakes are higher than we’ve seen before, as Adam gets involved in an eternal struggle between angels and demons.
